Dental Licensure
Foreign-trained dentists who wish to practice dentistry in Texas may visit the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners web page for detailed instructions for becoming licensed in the State of Texas. According to TSBDE requirements, in general a foreign-trained dentist seeking to practice dentistry in Texas must successfully complete training in an American Dental Association (ADA) approved specialty education program that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and that consists of at least two years of training as specified by the Council on Dental Education. Exceptions, special circumstances, and detailed information regarding requirements for licensure may be obtained directly from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. The specialties listed below accept applications from foreign-trained dentists. All programs accept applications from internationals who hold a US or Canadian dental degree.
